Apple Volcano
Let's Begin
Gather Materials
Apple
Baking Soda
White Vinegar
Dropper
Knife or melon baller
Baking sheet or plate (to catch the liquid from the eruption)
Dish soap (optional – this can cause a more bubbly reaction, just add a drop before adding the vinegar)
Step 1
Using a melon baller or a knife, remove the stem and top or core from the apple without removing the bottom so there is a cavity inside the apple (this step is for adults for safety).
Then, place the apple onto a baking sheet or plate (to catch the spills.) Add baking soda to the apple’s cavity. Fill the apple’s cavity to the top with baking soda about a tablespoon.
Step 2
Pour vinegar (or use the dropper) to drop vinegar onto the baking soda and watch the eruption!
When the fizzing slows down, add more baking soda and/or vinegar and repeat the steps to cause more of an eruption.

- Can follow 1-step verbal commands without any gestures
- Drinks from a cup
2-years-old

- Knows names of familiar people and body parts
- Might use one hand more than the other
