Fun with Static
Let's Begin
Gather Materials
Tissue
Balloon
Stencil and/or cookie cutters
Tape
Scissors
Optional: marker to decorate
Step 1
Start by tracing a design on a piece of tissue paper from the stencil or cookie cutter.
Step 2
Next use the scissors to cut around your shape/design. Tissue paper is very tricky to cut, it tears easily, so this may be a step for you to do for the child.
Step 3
Now tape the bottom of the shape/design to the table surface.
Step 4
It’s now time to blow up the balloon.
Step 5
Lastly, rub the balloon oh hair, your shirt, or carpet to create static. Hold the balloon over the tissue paper shape and watch it rise up from the table!

- Can follow 1-step verbal commands without any gestures
- Drinks from a cup
2-years-old
- Shows more and more independence
- Knows names of familiar people and body parts
- Might use one hand more than the other
